I did my first full-length feature on Juna N Joey back in February of 2022, when they were 16 and 19 years old. Their parents are not musical at all, but they have a paternal grandfather who was an Opera singer and a maternal grandmother who was part of a country band.
Since then, the brother and sister duo have continued attending online school and now college, all while writing new songs and touring. Now the pair are 20 and 23, and their music has evolved just as they have.
Their biggest hit to date is from 2021, “Something Good To Miss,” followed by “Cowboy Crazy” in 2023. Their energy and family harmony cannot be denied.
At the end of last year, Juna N Joey released the power ballad, “So Long Distance.” The song has all the intense emotions one feels when apart from their soulmate. The song describes the loneliness on the road, even though the show must go on.
Earlier this summer, Juna N Joey released their newly penned single, “Keep My Tab Open,” which tells the relatable story of finding love when you’re not looking for it. Known for their laid-back vocals and natural chemistry, the pair take turns singing lead in the song, showcasing a more mature version of the duo.
Now, as a follow-up to their initial summer single, Juna N Joey have released the ultimate chill track, “Sip It Slow.” It is perfect for rolled-down windows and loudspeakers. Told from the perspective of two co-workers grabbing drinks after work, it captures the unexpected shift from friendship to something more. As the whiskey flows, buried feelings rise to the surface. In the chorus, Joey sings, “Take some time like a red wine, gets better when it hits me,” expressing their desire to savor this new connection.”
“Sip It Slow” wouldn’t have made sense for the pair several years ago, but now the young adults share new songs that resonate with them and their growing fanbase.
The song states, “Just a couple drinks at your place, yeah, now we’re both fallin’ hard.” “It shows how quickly things get serious,” Juna shared.
“Even in the heat of the moment, there’s caution, Joey admitted, “I can see us messin’ this up,” aware of how easy it is to go too fast and lose something real.”
Not only that, the duo (alongside their family) are in the process of opening a new music venue on the outskirts of Nashville in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, called Round Hear. The cozy bar will cater to songwriters and music enthusiasts, offering a welcoming, creative atmosphere where music and community take center stage. Round Hear will feature tapas, food, and drinks, and will have a karaoke night along with the famed songwriter rounds. Look for it to open later this year.
Even though this brother sister duo has been making music for quite some time now, because they started so young, they have loads of experience under their belt with many years left to bring us the best music of their career.
